Browse files

By the end of this page you will be able to read any indexed file as it was at the analysed commit, and see what changed between two ingests.

Prerequisites

  • An application with at least one completed ingest (Run an ingest).
  • Admin or Developer role.

What this reads

The file manifest of a graph version — every file the ingest inventoried, with its content as it was at that commit. This is not a live view of the repository; it is what was analysed.

That is the point of it. When the graph says something, this is where you confirm it against the actual source that claim was made from.

Finding a file

  • The version selector chooses which ingest to read. Latest version is the default.
  • Filter by path narrows a long manifest.
  • Arriving from a search hit or a graph node opens the right file directly.

Comparing two versions

Pick a second version in Compare with… and the file is shown side by side, so you can see exactly what changed between two ingests.

Two versions of a file shown side by side

This answers a question the Versions tab only answers in aggregate: that a file changed is one thing, how is another.

ℹ️

Not every file’s text is retained. Very large files, binaries and anything outside what the ingest inventoried are listed but not readable. The screen says so rather than showing an empty pane.

Common issues

  • “Nothing indexed yet” — No ingest has completed.
  • “This version has no files” — The manifest is empty, which usually means the ingest stopped before the inventory stage.
  • A file cannot be shown — Its text was not retained. See the note above.
  • A file you expected is missing — It may be excluded as build output or a dependency directory, or it arrived after this version was built.
