Context Graph1. Create an application

Create an application

By the end of this page you will have an application ready for its first repository.

Prerequisites

  • A project. Admin or Developer role.

One application is one system

An application is the container the graph is built in. The Studio states the idea in one line:

One application is one system — attach every repo that belongs to it, and the graph spans them.

Three services behind a gateway are one application with three sources, not three applications. That matters because cross-repo links only exist inside one application. Split them and you lose the one thing that makes a multi-service map worth having.

Create separate applications for systems that genuinely have nothing to do with each other.

Create it

Open Context Graph

Click Context Graph in the project sidebar. You land on the Applications list.

Click New application

A short form appears.

Name it

FieldNotes
NameWhat this system is called — “Commerce platform”.
DescriptionOptional. One line, such as “Three services behind one gateway”.
The New application form with a name and description filled in

Click Create

The application appears in the list, with no sources and no version yet.

Reading the list

ColumnWhat it tells you
NameWith the description underneath, if you set one
SourcesHow many repositories are attached
VersionThe latest graph version, or not ingested if none has been built
UpdatedWhen it last changed

Deleting an application

The delete action asks first, and says what goes with it: “This removes its graph versions and indexed chunks.” That is every version, not only the latest — the repositories themselves are untouched.

Common issues

  • Create does nothing — The name is empty.
  • Two applications that should be one — Delete one and attach its repositories to the other. Links across them only appear once they are in the same application.
